Presidential Panel Suspends 12 EFCC Directors, As Police Reacts to Magu’s Arrest

Presidential Panel Suspends 12 EFCC Directors, As Police Reacts to Magu’s Arrest

Information reaching us indicates that about 12 directors and top staff of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) have been suspended with immediate effect.
The notice of suspension was communicated to the Acting Chairman of the anti-graft agency,  Mohammed Umar by the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation.
According to sources, the action was in connection with the ongoing investigation of the suspended Acting Chairman of the agency, Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
What brought anxiety about the situation is that some of those affected were not directly involved in Magu’s administration.
Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, has said that Magu, is not being detained by the Police.
According to Adamu, Magu is being detained by the Presidential Panel investigating the activities of the EFCC.
In a letter written by the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, DCP Idowu Owohunwa, dated 14th July, 2020, with number CB: 7000/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.489/171 to an application for bail by Magu’s counsel, Tosin Ojaomo Esq, Ojaomo & Ojaomo Chambers, Abuja, the IGP advised that the later be addressed to the Chairman of the Presidential Panel for appropriate attention.
