The Race to Oke mosan: Appreciation.

I thank my friends, supporters, party members and my family members who stood by me during the just concluded gubernatorial elections.

I acknowledged the resources, time and energy generously expended to ensure our participation at the polls.

There is no joy in victory without running the risk of defeat. We lost because we competed. If you win, you can lead, if you lose, you can guide. We did not sit on the fence. We believed we could make a difference. It required courage,boldness and ideas to contest. 

In Nigeria, and indeed, during this last elections, I got to know that the requirements go beyond the aforementioned. They are enormous.

However, by our participation in the electoral process and by putting up ourselves for the gubernatorial contest in Ogun -State; we accepted leadership, responsibility and challenges. Challenges make life interesting ;overcoming them make life meaningful.

During the electioneering campaign , I have learnt to be more persuasive, more attentive , more approachable and make my home the people’s home. I have also experienced betrayal, blackmail, disappointment, deception and treachery. These I have come to realize, like a Siamese twins, are parts of the political territory.

Above all, I enjoyed with humility,the loyalty displayed by my supporters and I savored the faithfulness and fidelity of so many individuals. Individuals that gave resources, advice and shared knowledge without expecting anything in return. A day in privacy, while reflecting on my daily activities, I was moved by the incredible show of love and affection I received from unknown peasants.

Whatever has a beginning will surely have an end. The elections have come and gone,

Ogun State citizens have made a choice. That is the beauty of democracy.

To my loving children who were often times denied my attention, I thank you for your understanding . To my husband, I am grateful for your rare encouragement, absolute support and for always being there for me. My in-laws, thank you for your encouragement, late night calls, financial support and prayers.

My appreciation also goes to my Principal, His Excellency, The Rt. Honourable Dimeji Bankole, for given me that great opportunity of political limelight and,indeed, for the trust and confidence you always have for me. To the party leaders and members, I say thank you for the platform .

The last three months have been a quarter for learning and doing, it has been life changing in all spheres. My prayer is we will all get supports and help in our times of need.

Am indeed grateful to Almighty God for seeing me through this election. Once again thank you all for your support.
